Public Lecture: Alex Puz

Cranbrook Academy of Art welcomes artist Alex Puz for a public lecture on Thursday, October 1, as part of the Academy’s ongoing Public Lecture Series. The program brings artists, designers, architects, critics, writers, and curators to Cranbrook to discuss their practices, research, and perspectives with students and the wider community. Based in Baltimore, Puz’s painting practice centers on color, optics, and linear abstraction, using systematic processes of color and line to create dense, highly structured chromatic fields that explore the relationship between perception, emotion, and cognition. Puz was a Studio Fellow in Cohort 05 of NXTHVN in New Haven and participated in the 2025 Interdisciplinary Art and Theory Program in New York. His work is held in the collections of the U.S. Department of State, JPMorgan Chase, and Yale Health, with selected exhibitions including presentations at the Ford Foundation, Jeffrey Deitch, The Campus, and Gallery Simon in Seoul.
