    ABOUT

PFA Gallery, formerly Pazo Fine Art, has established itself as a distinguished platform for contemporary abstraction in the Washington metropolitan area, presenting rigorously curated exhibitions that bridge historical inquiry and contemporary practice across diverse media. The program emphasizes critical re-evaluation of postwar abstraction while advancing the work of artists whose practices contribute substantively to ongoing discourse surrounding materiality, phenomenology, and chromatic theory.

Founded in 2020 by Luis Pazo, formerly Gallery Director at Osuna Art & Antiques under the tutelage of the esteemed gallerist and collector Ramón Osuna (1937–2019), PFA has cultivated a distinctive curatorial vision rooted in scholarly rigor and sustained institutional engagement.

Operating exhibition spaces in both Kensington, Maryland and Washington, D.C., the gallery maintains a vital presence within the region's cultural infrastructure. Its Kensington location anchors a thriving cultural corridor adjacent to Antique Row, the metropolitan area's oldest and most significant antiquing district. In 2023, PFA expanded to Washington's historic U Street corridor, strengthening its capacity to facilitate critical dialogue between historical precedent and contemporary innovation.

Central to PFA's mission is the sustained reexamination of underrecognized trajectories within postwar abstraction and the elevation of practices that have been marginalized within canonical narratives. Through its exhibition strategy, the gallery investigates the formal, perceptual, and conceptual vocabularies that define abstract practice across generations and geographies. Each exhibition is conceived to generate intellectual engagement and critical discourse, foregrounding the distinctive methodologies of individual artists and their contributions to the evolution of abstract art.

Integral to this mission is PFA's commitment to producing scholarly publications that function as enduring contributions to art historical scholarship. Developed with archival precision and conceptual depth, these catalogues extend the intellectual scope of each exhibition, preserving critical interpretation and contextualizing the gallery's program within expansive historical and theoretical frameworks. Through this dual commitment to exhibition-making and publishing, PFA advances substantive conversations that enrich contemporary discourse and deepen the cultural resonance of abstract practice.
