More than a month after the fiasco of the France team in South Africa, the French professional football is definitely getting worse. While professional football league (LFP) expected at worst to a deficit of 150 million euros, the National Monitoring Directorate Management (DNCG) has recently established its report on the finances of French professional clubs. And the finding is instructive: their accumulated loss stood at 180 million euros for the 2009-2010 season, including 140 million for the Ligue 1 clubs. Record. The precedent dating from the 2002-2003 season with a deficit of 167 million.

And yet, the French professional clubs we were accustomed to much better in recent years. "This deficit is due more to a sharp decline in revenue related to shipments by a sharp increase in spending that we had already seen last year," said Vincent warmShe expert sports Ineum Consulting.Today, the situation is simple, both for small than for large clubs: he must sell players first and then build his team. This is far from easy. Why?

Spanish and English clubs are more buyers

Their main "clients", English and Spanish clubs, bear the brunt of the economic crisis and could not like each year to buy the best French players. And unlike like the French clubs do not hesitate to buy great players, the calculation is done quickly. "This deficit is a matter of timing. French football is constantly lagging behind the economic cycle. The French clubs have spent much of last year through the renegotiation of TV contracts in 2006, and the establishment of the right to collective image (which exempts a portion of payroll taxes to pay athletes, can not exceed 30% of the total, Ed), whose clubs n (were really benefit in 2009, "said Vincent warmShe.

Although we are far from 800 million euros of debt the English club Chelsea in January erased by its Russian owner Roman Abramovich. But the fact that this ad is not necessarily good news when we know that UEFA is planning to launch its draft financial fair play in UEFA's two years at the initiative of … France. Thus, from the 2012-2013 season, clubs will no longer spend more than they earn.Again, the French clubs are not the worst placed in terms of expenditure, but in terms of income, they are far from being the first …

If one were to summarize the 2010 summer transfer window, we would call dull. Like any economic activity, football suffers from the crisis. Marseille and Lyon have already purchased a lot last year and Paris and Bordeaux have had a sporting season 2009-2010 more than complicated. Thus, the OM has bought Andre-Pierre Gignac and Loic Remy because they sold Mamadou Niang (at Turkish club Fenerbahce) and lent Hatem Ben Arfa (at English club Newcastle).

Aulas has made "a little fun"

What about Lyon? Until the "little pleasure" that became Jean-Michel Aulas, the Lyon president of purchasing Yoann Gourcuff for $ 22 million last Tuesday, the club Lyon had previously spent only 6 million euros with the former Rennes Jimmy Briand.Far from 82 million spent a year earlier. "Unlike the big Italian clubs, English or Spanish, French clubs can not afford a repeat of" such "transfer window several times. The DNCG requires them to control their spending. And when the crisis gets involved … "Says one expert.

Last year like this year, Lyon as Marseille have sold less and less purchased. But the fact remains the same: they have spent more than sold. The OL has purchased $ 28 million and sold for 3 million in summer 2010 transfer window (82 million against 45.5 million in the transfer window in 2009). For the OM, the losses amount to 13 million euros in the summer 2010 transfer window (about 23 million euros in the transfer window in 2009). For their part, had to sell Gourcuff Bordeaux to balance its accounts and finally Paris Saint Germain all the trouble to sell his "big bucks" to be able to buy a defender. The crisis affects everyone.Relatively speaking …

.

The U.S. stock market should be reluctant to take on the leadership on Monday. The index futures are predicting a slight decline in opening of U.S. markets. The index futures Standard & Poor's 500 and Nasdaq 100 fell back in effect respectively by 0.13% to 1099.50 points from 0.04% to 1873.10 points.

On Friday, the NYSE has ended sharply higher, buoyed by another round of quarterly results from U.S. companies of good quality and were reassured on the results of resistance testing in European banks. The Dow Jones gained 0.99% and the Nasdaq 1.05%. On the whole last week, the Dow Jones gained 3.23% and the Nasdaq rose 4.15%.

On the foreign exchange market, the euro steadied against the dollar. In the morning, it was worth 1.2901 dollars against 1.2906 dollars on Friday.

A busy week on the macroeconomic level.Today investors expect the sales figures for new housing. Another highlight, the U.S. central bank should publish its Beige Book Wednesday on the economic conditions. It will be very guarded while the president of the institution, Ben Bernanke said Wednesday before Congress the slow recovery, with no announcement of new funding in the economy.

On Tuesday, it is the Standard & Poor's / Case Schiller home prices and consumer confidence, which will be followed, before investors only look the next day on orders of durable goods. But it was the day Friday with the first estimate of gross domestic product (GDP) U.S. second quarter to be expected this week. This new burst of publications should be followed especially when investors are questioning the strength of new U.S. economic recovery No fax pay day loans.

U.S. companies are still likely to take stock in their accounts this week, including the program six companies forming part of Dow Jones. Tomorrow investors expect such figures CIT and Lockheed Martin and those sitting in the middle of DuPont.

To follow today the title of BP traded on Wall Street. The British press refers to a departure from the CEO of BP, before tomorrow, the date of publication of interim results of the oil giant.

Always on the side of values, General Electric said Friday its increased dividend of 20%, the quarterly dividend from 10 cents to 12 cents.GE also announced a resumption of its share repurchase programs. He had stopped this practice in September 2008. The board gave its approval for an additional $ 11.6 billion. "GE hopes to finish the year with $ 25 billion in cash, including proceeds from the sale of a majority stake in its subsidiary NBC Universal to Comcast" say the analysts at Aurel BGC. Some of this money will be used to buy three billion dollars in preferred shares that the group has sold to the holding company Berkshire Hathaway of Warren Buffett in October 2008.

Also note Friday night, the FDIC, the federal agency whose primary responsibility is to guarantee bank deposits, announced the bankruptcy of six new American banks, bringing to 102 the number of closing establishments since the beginning of year. These six failures will cost about 394 million dollars to its compensation fund the FDIC.

The spill "will push us to rethink our energy and environmental policy," said Barack Obama last June 14 during his fourth visit to the polluted beaches of the Gulf of Mexico. "We remain the largest importers of oil, or we can make the investments that we would become the world's leading exporter of renewable energy." This sentence, Bush had decided long before the "September 11 ecological. It is dated March 19, 2009. For when he took office, the successor of George W. Bush's climate and the "transition energy" one of its priorities.Obama was then referred to the creation of 5 million jobs through green energy and 150 billion dollars invested in ten years to stimulate private effort.

The deal is simple: the U.S. and 2% of the world population, consume nearly 22% of the world's oil. They are well produced 7.1 million barrels per day last year (8.5% of world production), but must import about 60% of their needs.

A carbon market

Since the beginning of his mandate, Barack Obama defends climate energy bill, stalled in Congress. Precisely for Obama rally Republican senators, one month before the spill, had conceded the oil lobby to lift the ban on oil drilling in Atlantic and Pacific instant payday loan. Before declaring a new disaster in six-month moratorium.Giving due to 32 oil companies that had filed an appeal, a judge in Louisiana quashed yesterday, this moratorium. The White House immediately announced its intention to appeal.

The Democratic majority hopes tying a new version of the bill by the month of July. The text, in its latest release, provides a carbon market to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases from industry and, among other provisions, the nuclear revival.

No matter that the oil spill as an excuse to create an energy tax, has won Sunday's Mitch McConnell, the Republican leader in the Senate, where every vote counts.

Barack Obama is still riding the wave sticky to push his advantage. It should meet on Wednesday a group of Senate Republicans and Democrats to find a new compromise on the law.Without waiting for Congress, the Administration Obama has already made progress in diversifying its energy sources.

The German company Cognis, a manufacturer of additives for cosmetics and detergents, is for sale. Its owners, the funds Goldman Sachs Capital Partners and Permira, are in talks with potential buyers for a sale price that some 3.5 billion euros.

The world of chemistry, BASF would be the most likely buyer according to sources close to negotiations. It could make a bid this week. The German giant hopes to raise its presence in Asian markets and U.S. Cognis achieving only 30% of its business in Germany online payday loans. The U.S. DuPont and Lubrizol could also be interested.BASF had already acquired last year the Swiss Ciba for 3.8 billion euros to strengthen in the mill.

Cognis owners have already tried to sell the company in 2006, but were eventually dropped for lack of attractive offers. They had bought Cognis Henkel in 2001 for 2.5 billion euros. After a major reorganization, the workforce has shrunk by almost 30% and today the company has 5600 employees.

In recent years, the owners have too often been a drift of their trustee fees (see also the investigation of abusive practices on an individual trustees). They tended to vote in general meeting a basic package at attractive rates, but charge extra for many tasks that should have been part of their standard delivery. In an attempt to end these abuses, the National Consumer Council (NCC) was made in September 2007, a notice setting out, in consultation with the condominium associations and professionals, a list of 44 tasks to be included in the basic package. Professionals do not always having complied late 2009, the government has decided to publish a decree making such recommendations mandatory. All contracts voted on after 1 July 2010 must comply with these new requirements

A stopped too shy

The condominium associations, the ARC (Association of Chief of joint ownership) and the association CLCV (consumption, housing, environment) in mind, regret that the order did not go further advance payday. It does not specify what effect do the terms current management task, or tasks. Thus, the trustees may continue to charge benefits sometimes fanciful, for example, emergency management during the day, the return of applications to the bailiff and lawyer, or sending emails.Another problem is the order also allows trustees to charge shareholders' meetings held outside office hours and charge extra for some of the archives, the archives only useful (condominium regulations, minutes of general assembly, contract work etc …) are included in the current management.

Eleven days after that Nicolas Sarkozy has assured that the European Commission would propose a carbon tax in June border, Brussels released Tuesday, a text that could shower the certainties of the Head of State. "A carbon tax at the border has a considerable number of drawbacks, experts believe the Commission in a document of 60 pages devoted to" innovative international financing, "presented by three commissioners, including the Lithuanian Algirdas Semeta for taxation.

Following the regional elections, Nicolas Sarkozy has postponed the carbon tax, its implementation conditional on the adoption of a "tax border European" would apply to products from the 'polluter pays'.

Trade disputes

The idea largely divides the bloc, and the report points out the reluctance of Brussels."First, (the tax) should be designed to ensure legal consistency with the WTO (World Trade Organization). This obstacle is surmountable by experts held Bercy. The fact remains that the tax, according to Brussels, "could provoke trade wars and retaliation" fast cash. The fears about China but also the United States. "Secondly, the report continues, the administrative costs could be very high because the tax rate would vary depending on carbon emissions generated by each taxed product."

On March 26, following the European Council, Nicolas Sarkozy had been assured that "the question of a border adjustment mechanism" was "unavoidable", adding: "no country objected."According to the French President, the European Commission in June propose a mechanism of carbon tax at the border. This initiative does not appear in the official statement of the conclusions of EU summit. "It is an interpretation" by the Head of State, politely commented an official of the Commission. "The border tax," says this source in Brussels could be discussed "early May" between the commissioners involved in the revision of the directive on the taxation of energy to appear in a document may only be a proposal.

The British bride is more beautiful. British Airways, which should finalize during 2010 his marriage with Iberia, said Friday it had halved its operating loss in the third quarter.

"We still expect to lose money records this year," warned Willie Walsh, its director general. Due to a disastrous start to the year, the company has doubled its losses in the first nine months of its fiscal year. But saving measures taken upon entry into the crisis begins to pay. They have reduced operating costs by 10.5%.

To achieve this, the company has taken most of its competitors' revenues low costs. Starting with one of the keys to their model: a homogeneous fleet of aircraft, which reduces maintenance costs. On its base from London Gatwick, British Airways is gradually increased to a single type of aircraft (Boeing 777) for its long-haul flights and two models (Airbus A 320 and A 319) for its medium-haul flights.

All departments of the company have also made efforts. British Airways has cut staffing in its ground staff. A voluntary separation scheme and the non-renewal of retirements have to spend the staff of the London Heathrow Airport from 7 000 to 6 000 employees.

The operation of the hub has been completely redesigned. The development of online registration and training for staff to become versatile allowed both increase productivity and improve the punctuality of aircraft easy payday loans .

Last summer, finally, employees of support functions had to take leave without pay."Everyone had made efforts, but the sailors, summarizes a part of British Airways. We decided to make some changes so authoritarian. "

"Ability to react quickly"

Since the fall, steps have been taken to reduce the rest stops and to enhance the productivity of crews. The rest in Los Angeles after a flight from London for example is increased from two to one night.

A voluntary retirement plan was established to 1 000 cabin crew. 3 000 sailors have agreed to move to part time. This change has saved the equivalent of 700 employees at the company. British Airways has also offered its pilots a pay cut 6 to 7% against shares. This will allow the company to achieve 300 million pounds of savings this year."These reforms demonstrate our ability to react quickly, welcomes a part of the company. Our competitors have thought that we overreact. "

These drastic measures have however led social movements. The crew of the company and to vote February 22 on organizing a strike to oppose these measures, calling the union Unite.

Statistics mixed and disappointing in November in the United States. Consumer spending rose for the second consecutive month, gaining 0.5% on month, after rising 0.6% in October, according to statistics published Wednesday by the Commerce Department.

Although most economists expecting the continuation of consumption suggests an acceleration of growth on the end of the year, confirming the rebound of 2.2% in the third quarter.

The increase in consumption was accompanied, in November, the fifth consecutive increase in household income at 0.4%. Although this is the largest increase in this indicator since May, it remains below expectations (+0.5%).

Despite this more favorable context, the real estate market continued its descent into hell, touching its lowest level since April.Sales of new homes have plummeted 11.3% in November to 355,000 units annually. A very unpleasant surprise to economists, who expected 440,000 sales. To make matters worse, the figures for October were revised downward, to 400,000 units against 430,000 previously estimated.

The National Association of food industries (Ania) decided this morning after three hours of heated debate, leaving the MEDEF, it was learned from corroborating sources.

After your secret ballot procedure rarrissime the board took this decision by 18 votes against 12. The Ania MEDEF considers that it "pays" too little regard to the amount of annual dues (over 600,000 euros).

Yet no decision to join another employer organization has been taken. The departure of a large federation, which had supported Laurence Parisot when she presented herself at the head of MEDEF, is a blow to the boss of bosses.

The owner of Ania, Jean-Ren? Buisson, will hold a press briefing at 15 am explaining the decision of its directors.
